We created this space to uncover and showcase promising ideas and practices from across fields in service of better outcomes for all socially minded organizations. To turn uncommon insights into common sense.

Social impact organizations are working on today’s toughest and most complex problems, more often than not with very limited resources. By “de-siloing” our work to make connections and identify plausible approaches across disciplines, our goal is for Uncommon Sense to provide leaders with the tools and perspectives that will allow them to be ahead of the curve rather than working from behind. To begin looking over the horizon and positioning their organizations for sustained success.

In addition to contributions from the Deep Breadth team, we will invite colleagues and partners to share their successes, solutions, and challenges. We believe that listening to diverse thinkers enhances our collective understanding and improves the possibility of designing strategies that can successfully navigate the uncertainty and complexity in the world. We intend Uncommon Sense to serve as a multi-directional learning community, and we hope that out of the box notions and approaches from other fields and voices that emerge in this space will prompt creative solutions and risk-taking.

One of the great challenges of our time is the increasing isolation and polarization in our communities and societies. This space for learning and sharing is meant to bind us together and build networks so that our collective curiosity snowballs into intergenerational impact.
